On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are delighted to invite you to join us in Perth for the 2026 RACI National Congress, Australia’s premier gathering of chemical scientists, engineers, educators, and innovators from across the country and around the globe.

Hosted by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), Australia’s peak professional body championing the chemical sciences, this Congress is a celebration of the vital role of the chemical sciences in shaping a sustainable future.

The theme for the 2026 National Congress is “Enabling Innovation in a Carbon Constrained World”. As this indicates, we will engage members from all fields of chemistry in efforts to formulate genuine and sustainable solutions to our biggest global challenges including alternative energy sources, climate change, food security and antibiotic resistance through presentations and discussions.

New in 2026: Grand Challenges, Hackathons & Career Fair

RACI Congress 2026 introduces several exciting new initiatives designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and career development:

Grand Challenge & Hackathons

For the first time, the Congress will feature a dedicated Grand Challenge stream, uniting pure and applied scientists around seven defining themes for the coming decade. These sessions are designed to complement existing RACI Division programs, encouraging topical cross-over and transdisciplinary dialogue.

Presenters can opt to have their abstracts considered for Grand Challenge sessions during registration, ensuring each stream is populated with both cutting-edge research and practical implementation strategies.
